The Borough of Millersville is located approximately four miles south-west of Lancaster. It is the home of Millersville University which occupies approximately one quarter of the area of the borough. First settled in 1761 it was originally called Millersburg then Millerstown and finally Millersville.
Originally called Millersville Normal School, the University was founded in1855, the first such school established by the commonwealth to train teachers. Today the University offers a full range of acedemic pursuits.
In addition to housing staff and students of the University, Millersville is also an attractive residential community for many others. The community offers a full array of support services for a residential community including, banking, retail, medical and dental care, auto repair, food service and recreation facilities.
Millersville is the headquarters of the Penn Manor School District.
