Mountville is a borough located approximately nine miles west of Lancaster. Mountville is accessible by US Rt 30 (east-west), PA 462 (east-west) and secondary state roads (north-south). Originally settled in 1814 the borough was initially named Mount Pleasant.
The borough is primarily a residential community however there are car dealers, motel-hotels, RV dealer, agricultural equipment dealer, banks, restaurants, various distribution companies and numerous small businesses.
Mountville proper is in the Hempfield school district, however Penn Manor School District extends to the village border on the south.
