Strasburg is a borough located eight miles south-east of Lancaster. Strasburg is an historical town dating to at least 1733 and possibly 1711 or earlier. Originally a Conestoga Wagon and stage coach stop between the Susquehanna River and Philadelphia on the Conestoga Road it had numerous hotels and stable operations. There are many restored historic homes in the borough as well a many newer homes of all eras up to the present. Strasburg is an important tourist stop in the area with the Strasburg Railroad and the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum being key attractions.
Stasburg was originally settled by French Huguenots and the town was named for the Alsacean town of the same name. (Alsace was alternately controlled by France and Germany at various times throughout history, most of the people spoke German.)
