| East Petersburg East Petersburg is located approximately five miles northwest of Lancaster on PA Rt 72. East Petersburg was laid out and settled in 1812 by Daniel Wolf. Some lots were laid out by Peter Gottshall whom the town was supposedly named for. Originally named Petersburg, East was added to the name in the ninteenth century to distinguish it from another Petersburg further west. East Petersburg is the newest incorporated borough in Lancaster County having joined those ranks in 1946.
