Mount Joy

Located approximately thirteen miles northwest of Lancaster, the Mount Joy area was first settled about 1735.  The borough was first settled in 1811 as Richland.  The name was changed to honor Lord Mount Joy.  The early residents of the Mount Joy and the surrounding area were mostly Scots Irish.
  

The Borough of Mount Joy is located in the Donegal School District.
