New Holland


New Holland is located approximately 13 miles east-northeast of Lancaster.  New Holland was settled in 1728 by a group led by John Diffenderfer of Heidelberg, Germany.  In 1802 a postal service was established and the town, originally called New Design and then Earltown, was named New Holland, in honor of the kind treatment the Germany immigrants recieved while traveling through Holland on their journey to the new world.
  
New Holland is in the Eastern Lancaster County School District
